Pastry Pleasures’ Wangechi Kimata Whisks Up Temptation Through Cake Experiences

For many people, cake is a sweet treat. For Wangechi Kimata, founder of Pastry Pleasures, it is an opportunity to create an experience customers can taste, personalise and remember.
With 13 years in the pastry business, Wangechi has turned her passion for baking into a customer-focused brand built on creativity, personalisation and exceptional service.

Her love for pastry began at home. Her mother used to bake, and while studying at university, Wangechi would often help her in the kitchen. What started as a family experience eventually grew into a passion—and later, a business.

Today, Pastry Pleasures is bringing a fresh twist to cake enjoyment through its Whisked Temptation concept, where customers do not simply buy a cupcake—they get to be part of creating it.

“You pick a flavour, then we frost and decorate it for you. After that, you get to choose the toppings that you like,” Wangechi explains.

The choices make the experience even more exciting. Customers can personalise their cupcakes with sprinkles, marshmallows, white chocolate, Oreo and biscuits, creating a treat that reflects their individual taste.

But behind the colourful toppings and delicious flavours lies a bigger philosophy.

“I would say it’s not just the cake, but also the service that we offer,” Wangechi says.

She believes that while baking can be taught, building a pastry business that customers trust and recommend requires consistency, attention to detail and genuine care.

That approach has paid off. Much of her business comes through word-of-mouth referrals from satisfied customers.

“Most of my work comes from referrals,” she says, crediting her loyal clients for helping Pastry Pleasures grow over the years.

Yet Wangechi is also realistic about the challenges facing the industry. With more bakers and pastry businesses entering the market, standing out requires more than producing good cakes.

“The market is also quite saturated, but you can only stay in the business if you're offering everything combined that sticks with your clients,” she says.

For customers who want to enjoy Pastry Pleasures from the comfort of their homes or order for special occasions, online services are also available, making it easier to explore the offerings, place orders and enjoy personalised pastry experiences.
For Pastry Pleasures, that combination is simple but powerful: delicious products, personalised experiences and service that customers remember.

After 13 years, Wangechi continues to bake with the same passion that started in her mother’s kitchen—only now, she is creating sweet memories for a growing community of customers.

Through Whisked Temptation, Pastry Pleasures is showing that the best cake experiences are not just about what is on the plate. They are about the joy of choosing, creating, sharing—and leaving with a sweet memory worth coming back for.
