Hundreds of learners at Heshima Road Comprehensive School have received a major boost after the Hon. Simon Mbugua Foundation donated dozens of brand-new wooden desks, helping to ease classroom congestion and create a more conducive environment for learning.
For months, overcrowded classrooms had posed a major challenge for both learners and teachers, with many students forced to squeeze onto shared desks during lessons and examinations. The limited furniture made it difficult for learners to concentrate, write comfortably and fully participate in classroom activities.
On Thursday, a truck from the Hon. Simon Mbugua Foundation arrived at the school carrying the much-needed desks. The Head Teacher, members of the school administration, teachers and student leaders joined hands to unload the furniture and arrange it in classrooms, transforming the learning spaces before the end of the day.

The donation is part of the Foundation's ongoing commitment to improving education and uplifting communities across Kamukunji Constituency. Led by former Kamukunji Member of Parliament Hon. Simon Mbugua, the Foundation has continued to champion initiatives in education, youth empowerment, community welfare and social development. Through these programmes, the Foundation seeks to create lasting change by addressing the everyday challenges facing families and learners while investing in the next generation.

Students expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Simon Mbugua and his Foundation, saying the new desks would enable them to study in comfort, improve concentration and boost their confidence as they prepare for examinations. Many said the donation had restored their hope and inspired them to work even harder in their studies.

The school administration also thanked the Foundation for the timely intervention, noting that the desks will significantly reduce congestion, improve classroom organization and provide learners with the dignity they deserve. They commended former area MP Simon Mbugua for his continued support for education even after leaving elective office, saying his dedication to serving the people of Kamukunji remains evident through the Foundation's impactful initiatives.

The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with schools and communities to address educational challenges, emphasizing that quality education begins with a safe, comfortable and well-equipped learning environment. For the learners of Heshima Road Comprehensive School, the new desks represent more than furniture—they symbolize hope, opportunity and a brighter future driven by community leadership and a shared commitment to educational excellence.
Although many classrooms at Heshima Road Comprehensive School continue to face challenges due to aging and dilapidated infrastructure, the new desks have brought renewed hope to both learners and teachers. The furniture will help maximize the available classroom space, improve organization and provide students with a comfortable place to read, write and participate in lessons. Teachers say the improved learning environment is expected to enhance concentration, reduce distractions and boost learners' confidence, particularly as they prepare for examinations. While the need for further investment in classroom rehabilitation remains, the donation marks an important step toward restoring dignity in learning and ensuring that every child has a better opportunity to succeed despite the existing infrastructural challenges.
