Kenya's top professional golfers head to Limuru Country Club this week for the third leg of the PGK Equator Tour, with Order of Merit leader Samuel Njoroge aiming to extend his lead in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested 2026 season.
.      Samuel Njoroge leads more than 50 professionals at Limuru Country Club as the PGK Equator Tour’s third leg offers key ranking points and international qualification opportunities.
The tournament, scheduled for June 18–21, will bring together more than 50 professionals as the race for ranking points, prize money and international qualification opportunities intensifies.

Njoroge, a member of the Safaricom Pro Team, arrives at Limuru in commanding form after accumulating 1,517 points from the opening two events at VetLab Sports Club and Thika Sports Club. His consistent performances have placed him at the summit of the Order of Merit standings, but the challenge is far from over.

Close behind is fellow Safaricom Pro Team golfer Mohit Mediratta, who sits second with 1,270 points, while veteran professional Dismas Indiza occupies third place with 890 points. The trio is expected to headline a highly competitive field as the season gathers momentum.

“The season has started well for me, and I’m pleased to be leading the standings after the first two legs. There is always pressure that comes with being at the top, but my focus remains on staying consistent, executing my game plan and building the momentum I’ve gained so far,” said Njoroge ahead of the tournament.

Limuru's challenging course, renowned for its narrow fairways, undulating greens and unpredictable weather, is expected to provide a stern test for the country's leading professionals. Success will require patience, accuracy and mental toughness, qualities that often separate champions from contenders.

Among the players seeking to make their mark is rising star Matthew Wahome, one of Kenya's most promising young golfers and among the youngest players to have competed at the Magical Kenya Open. Daniel Nduva and Edwin Mudanyi will also be looking to strengthen their positions on the standings through strong performances this week.

The tournament will also showcase the growing strength of women's professional golf, with Joyce Wanjiru, Naomi Wafula and Margaret Njoki set to compete alongside the men. Veteran campaigners Greg Snow and David Wakhu will add further quality and experience to the field.

Beyond the battle for tournament honours, the PGK Equator Tour continues to play a critical role in the development of professional golf in Kenya. The circuit serves as the official qualification pathway to the Magical Kenya Open and contributes valuable ranking points towards qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

For many players, every round at Limuru could have significant implications for their future careers and international ambitions.

The tour's growth has been supported by Safaricom, East Africa's leading telecommunications company, whose investment in golf continues to create opportunities for local professionals. Through its sponsorship of the PGK Equator Tour and support for elite golfers, Safaricom is helping nurture talent and strengthen pathways to international competition.

Serving more than 71.6 million customers across Kenya and Ethiopia, the company has built a reputation not only as a technology and financial services leader through M-PESA, but also as a key supporter of sports development and community empowerment.

As Kenya's finest golfers converge on Limuru, the stakes extend beyond this week's trophy. With Order of Merit points, international qualification opportunities and professional pride on the line, the third leg of the PGK Equator Tour promises another compelling chapter in the country's growing golf story.Caption: Order of Merit leader Samuel Njoroge will headline a field of more than 50 professionals at Limuru Country Club as the PGK Equator Tour enters its crucial third leg.
