Jubilee Party leaders on Thursday hosted members of the Jubilee Party Students’ Caucus at the party headquarters in Nairobi during the Council of Jubilee Student Leaders meeting, with discussions centred on youth leadership, governance and the future of Kenya’s politics ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The meeting brought together student leaders, youth representatives and party officials in an engagement aimed at strengthening youth participation within the party and national leadership structures.
Speaking during the meeting, Fred Matiang'i said Kenya’s future depends on the ability of young people to move beyond political mobilisation and actively shape governance, policy and national development.
Matiang’i noted that the youth hold the key to restructuring Kenya’s political culture by championing issue-based leadership, accountability, integrity and national unity. He said the country must transition from ethnic and personality-driven politics to a system grounded in ideas, competence and service delivery.
“The youth are not leaders of tomorrow alone; they are leaders of today and must be placed at the centre of national transformation,” Matiang’i said.
He further challenged young people to use their creativity, innovation and energy to drive political engagement at both grassroots and national levels. He added that political parties must intentionally create room for youth representation in leadership, decision-making and policy formulation processes.
Youth leaders attending the meeting said young people want to be recognised as a serious political force capable of influencing governance and development. They argued that youths should not only be visible during rallies and campaigns, but should also play a central role in party mobilisation, grassroots organisation and strategic planning.
The party reiterated its commitment to empowering young people through mentorship, leadership opportunities and inclusion in key structures, saying the goal is to build a country defined by opportunity, dignity and hope for every generation under the party slogan Mbele Pamoja agenda.
