PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT STORMS INTO 2027 RACE WITH PRM LAUNCH AND YOUTH-LED POLITICAL AGENDA
The newly formed People’s Movement (PRM Party) has officially launched its political platform, signalling a clear 2027 election ambition as it enters Kenya’s competitive political landscape with a strong reform message and leadership structure.
At the launch, the party unveiled Njenga Waragu as Interim NEC Chairman, who led a sharp condemnation of rising fuel prices and the worsening cost of living. PRM accused the government of economic mismanagement, excessive taxation, weak fuel stabilization systems, and supply chain inefficiencies that have driven up transport, food, and essential commodity prices.
“This is not governance. This is abandonment,” the party declared, calling for urgent interventions including VAT suspension on fuel, excise duty cuts, transport subsidies, strategic fuel reserves, and full transparency in fuel procurement and pricing.
The party also demanded an independent audit of the fuel supply chain and raised concerns over disparities in national fuel reserves, questioning fairness and accountability in resource distribution.
A key highlight of the launch was the youth representative Levi Mulase who has declared his bid for the PRM Senatorial candidate Busia County, where he was strongly positioned as the youth voice of the movement. Mulase emphasized that the 2027 political cycle must reflect generational change, calling for increased youth participation in leadership and decision-making.
He pledged to champion youth empowerment through structured inclusion in public service, job creation, and entrepreneurship opportunities. In Busia, he outlined plans to transform the county into a regional economic hub through cold storage facilities for fishermen and rice milling industries in Bunyala to boost value addition and employment.
