Mohit Mediratta Claims Victory in Thrilling Opening Leg of PGK Equator Golf Tour Second Edition

Nairobi, April 27, 2026 — Mohit Mediratta delivered a commanding performance at Vetlab Sports Club to win the opening leg of the PaGK Equator Golf Tour Second Edition, highlighted by a spectacular hole-in-one that proved decisive in a tightly contested field.

Sponsored by Safaricom alongside fellow professionals Mutahi Kibugu and Samuel Chege, Mohit carded an impressive 284 (4 under par) to top the leaderboard and set an early benchmark for the season. His round was defined by consistency, composure, and a moment of brilliance that electrified the tournament.

The standout moment came when Mohit sank a rare hole-in-one, a shot that shifted momentum firmly in his favour and drew strong reactions from spectators and competitors alike.

“I am excited to have won the first leg. The hole-in-one came as a complete surprise, it’s a rare moment for any golfer,” said Mohit. “The course was challenging and the competition was tight, but I stayed focused. This win gives me confidence for the rest of the season.”
Behind him, the fight for second place ended in a three-way tie as Mutahi Kibugu, Samuel Chege, and Jastas Madoya all finished on 287 points after four days of intense competition.

Further down the leaderboard, Greg Snow and C.J. Wangai posted 289, Robinson Owiti and debutant John Lejirma finished on 290, while veteran Dismas Indiza carded 291. Njoroge Kibugu, Daniel Nduva, and David Wakhu all closed on 292.
The four-day event attracted 52 of Kenya’s top professionals, including six debutants and three women transitioning from the amateur ranks, underscoring the growing competitiveness of Kenyan golf.
The second leg of the tour now shifts to Thika Sports Club, with 11 courses lined up across the season.
