ODM-Aligned Luo Professionals Urge Unity, Back Inclusive Governance
Professionals aligned to a faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have called for unity within the party and across the country, urging an end to persistent political divisions they say are undermining national development.
Speaking at a press briefing in a Nairobi hotel, the group led by Frederick Okang’o said ODM’s strength has always rested on dialogue, inclusivity and collective leadership, values they argued should now guide both party cohesion and national governance. They noted that prolonged political confrontations have eroded public trust and distracted leaders from addressing pressing socio-economic challenges.
The professionals welcomed the formation of a broad-based government, describing it as an opportunity for national healing and for regions long perceived as marginalised to access government services and development projects. They urged party leaders to support reforms outlined in the 10-point agenda and the NADCO report, saying these reflect ODM’s long-standing push for justice, accountability and inclusive leadership.
They also called on ODM supporters, especially the youth, to remain politically engaged by registering as voters and participating peacefully in democratic processes, stressing that unity within the party is critical to shaping Kenya’s future.
